Gravity Tilt Split Deck: Loading Safely

Load equipment on a gravity tilt deck with control. Balance and tongue weight are everything.

Before loading

• Keep the trailer hitched to the truck.
• Release the deck lock only when you're ready to tilt.
• Make sure the area behind the trailer is clear of people.

Loading

Drive up slowly and centered. The deck tilts back down as the machine passes the pivot. On a split deck, the stationary front section lets you carry attachments or a second item.

Balance

Place the load so about 10-15% of total weight is on the tongue. Too little tongue weight causes sway.

Secure it

Use at least four independent tie-downs (Grade 70 chain and binders for equipment). Lower buckets and attachments to the deck.
